With a student population of approximately 300, we are able to treat
students as individuals and support them in their academic, social and
physical development. Our support structures include a strong welfare
team, experienced course and career counselling and managed individual
pathways and an experienced, committed and highly professional teaching
staff.
The physical setting, including buildings and grounds creates a
stimulating, healthy environment for students (see Facilities).
The College provides a sequential and comprehensive curriculum which
aims to recognize the different needs, abilities and interests of
individual students. (see Curriculum).
Orbost Secondary College is the largest school in the Far East
Gippsland Cluster of schools. It is proud of its involvement with the
Cluster and the East Gippsland Network which supports both students and
the professional development of staff.
The
College works with academic driver, Professor John Munro of the
University of
Melbourne, to embed the Highly Reliable Teaching and Learning
Strategies to
support strong literacy development of our students.
All staff are involved weekly
professional learning
and work collegiately to support the continued development of
consistent
approaches to teaching and learning in the College.
In
2011 the College became a Netbook Pilot school. We
have worked purposefully to establish
strong guidelines for the safe
and responsible use of technology within the school and beyond. Staff and students are working together to
realise the potential of technology and to enhance learning.
On behalf of the
College, I extend an invitation to you to contact the
College should you require further information.
