Spacious Grounds & Sporting Facilities

Orbost Secondary College is situated amongst five hectares of established trees and gardens together with two well maintained sporting ovals. Sporting facilities also include tennis, netball, outdoor basketball and outdoor volleyball courts. The college’s Assembly Hall is used for many sporting purposes including Physical Education classes as well as interschool basketball, badminton and table tennis. The college is adjacent to the Orbost Community Sports Stadium and within walking distance of the Orbost Pool, Tennis Club, Bowls Club and Golf Club.

Performance Facilities

The Assembly Hall and the Theatre/Music complex are important components of the college’s successful Music and Performing Arts programs. These buildings are fitted to cater for activities including the annual school production, band concerts, solo performances and practice/rehearsal sessions. These facilities are also regularly used by other community organisations such as the Community Choir and Orbost Theatre Group. Recent updates have seen the addition of a new kitchen to improve catering for functions.

Skills Centre

Our Skills Centre caters for the delivery of VET subjects including Engineering, Automotive and Construction as well as Year 9 and 10 elective classes. The new Woodwork Technology Centre provides students with an up to date facility that is used for Wood Technology classes from years 7-10 as well as VET Furniture for years 11 and 12.

Arts / Technology Facilities

Other facilities to support Arts/Technology subjects include a designated ceramics room, including a new kiln, as well as classrooms specifically set up to cater for Food Studies, Textiles and Art classes. The college has two adjacent rooms used as an Information Technology Centre to support the use of technology as a learning tool. Students in years 9-12 have access to the 1 to 1 Netbook program, while students in years 7 and 8 are able to use a set of Netbooks located in the back of an open-space learning area.

Library Facilities

Our Library facilities include a classroom with a set of desktop computers, VCE study area, careers office and work area, large screen TV and a large variety of fiction and non-fiction books. Students are supported by Library staff who have the Library open for student use at recess, lunchtime and after school each day.

Video Conferencing

The college has a Polycom Unit used for video-conferencing. Staff use this facility to link with other schools and organisations for a range of activities including professional learning, meetings and delivery of curriculum. Students are able to use the unit to participate in activities such as extension programs, VCE classes and linking with other schools.
