Orbost Secondary College Library

Our library is focusing on developing information literacy skills in our students.

“Information literacy is knowing when and why you need information, where to find it, and how to evaluate, use and communicate it in an ethical manner”

(Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, 2004).

For our students to succeed in the 21st Century they need to be able to successfully navigate their way through the mountain of available information that is constantly bombarding them.

Alongside the focus on Information Literacy, the library is also a place for teaching classes, research classes and silent reading. It is a place for playing chess, listening to music, knitting, surfing the internet and studying.

The library has an extensive non-fiction collection that has been recently up-dated. A Graphic Novel Collection is in the process of being expanded. As well as general young adult fiction, there is a magazine collection and a fast fact and fiction collection.

Library Hours
