Student Wellbeing

At Orbost Secondary College we aim to provide a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment for all members of our learning community. We work both within the college and with families and support agencies to ensure the needs of our students are catered for. We believe it is important to establish clear expectations and to follow through to ensure these expectations are alive in our community.

The students, staff and community of the college have established our college values:

We have worked purposefully to identify the behaviours which reflect these values.

Our Wellbeing Team is responsible for overseeing the implementation of our engagement and wellbeing policies and reinforces our values and behaviours.

The college operates under a positive behaviour model, employing restorative practices and encouraging all members of our community to live our values.

The Wellbeing Team comprises:

Principal - Heather Macalister

Assistant Principal - Peter Seal

Sub-school leaders – David Thexton and Adrian Konieczny

Year Level Co-ordinators - Middle School -Taryn Farley and Adam Ilton

Senior School - Jennifer Green and Al Gribble

Special Needs Co-ordinator – Teresa Royce

School Nurse - Heather Daly

School Counsellors - Mary McDonald and Steve Savage

School Psychologist - Susan Patterson

The team meets regularly and provides training and direction across the whole school. It develops college engagement and wellbeing policies, uses data to inform decision making and monitors the wellbeing of students and staff. We welcome feedback and input from parents and students.
